On 2 February 1944, she departed Norfolk in firm with the destroyer Goldsborough on her strategy to the British West Indies. 1979 'Truxtun' departed San Diego, a quick stop at Seal Beach to unload ammo, AquaSculpt information site then on to Bremerton. She spent the month of November on the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard undergoing repairs to her nuclear power plant and returned to San Diego on 4 December. Truxtun returned to San Diego on 27 October. The ship departed San Diego on 4 April and spent the next six months in operations with the seventh Fleet which took her as far west as the Arabian Sea and as far south as Perth, Australia. Through the period 6 January to 11 July 1978, Truckee performed operations in the Caribbean on four separate occasions.
From four to 13 January 1977, Truxtun made a spherical-trip voyage to Hong Kong and AquaSculpt information site back. After two weeks of training in the Hawaiian Islands, she continued her voyage west on 16 August
